Bill Thistle
is co-owner and founder of Performance Alignment
Systems which operates Sportfeet, a skiing specific
business that manufactures ski boot footbeds and
orthotics as well as performing the ski boot modifications
necessary for proper alignment. Sportfeet also
provides educational services through lectures
and seminars given to ski instructors, coaches,
shop personal and clubs.
Bill started
skiing in 1971 shortly after the advent of high
performance plastic ski boots. During the period
from 1972-1977 he was a student, as well as an
instructor, at the Aspen Academy of Martial and
Healing Arts. His main focus was in the arts of
Aikido and Tai Chi and how their foundation principals
could be applied to western sports.
In 1976 Bill
joined the faculty of the Aspen Ski Academy as
Director of Training. He also spent time traveling
on the Men’s and Woman’s
Pro Ski Tours as a coach and trainer continuing
to gather knowledge about the sport of skiing,
the foundation of Sportfeet.
Over the past ten
years Performance Alignment Systems has expanded
their services to include custom
footbeds for all athletic footwear, and we now
work with athletes in the sports of golf, tennis,
running, cycling and hiking, helping the athletes
reach their true potential.
To compliment all
his practical knowledge of skiing and other sports
Bill attended Eneslow Pedorthic Institute and
received his Certification in Pedorthics in November
2003. Performance Alignment Systems has been chosen
to be a presenter at the Pedorthic Footwear
Association (PFA) national convention in Orlando
FL. November 2004.
